Abstract

In this presentation, I will cover product development and design methodology with a focus on the electrical engineering discipline process. Bresslergroup has been in the business of designing leading edge products in a wide range of markets for companies large and small for almost 50 years; this experience leads to some insights on how integration of many disciplines, and contributions all of them bring to a successful product.

Concerns about part selection, supply chain, early architecture decisions, and how to transition designs from idea through prototype and into production quantity – and why at each stage - will be discussed, followed up by a QA session.

Food and refreshments will be provided.

Speaker Bio

Todd got into engineering for the thrill of taking ideas, refining them, and making them real.

In his own career he’s done so many times over. He came to Bresslergroup with more than twenty years of experience, ranging from developing small products including commercial and consumer cameras and instrumentation to larger systems-development projects in industrial, spacecraft, and aerospace applications. He has consulted or held leadership positions at Halliburton, Agilence, Lockheed, and CA Technology. At Bresslergroup he’s responsible for electronics, firmware, software, and embedded systems design and development.

Todd earned his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University, later receiving a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the same institution. He led Drexel’s Solar Car Racing Team for three years, competing in racing events worldwide. He currently teaches Embedded Systems to students in the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering. You can also find him teaching whitewater kayaking at the Philadelphia Canoe Club and — when he has time — performing Gilbert & Sullivan with the Savoy Company.
