Nandan Tumu, a Ph.D. student in Electrical and Systems Engineering (ESE) and member of the Penn Research in Embedded Computing and Integrated Systems Engineering (PRECISE) Center, is leading the way in developing new urban traffic management and sustainable energy solutions.
By leveraging Differentiable Predictive Control (DPC), an advanced method for optimizing complex systems like traffic networks and energy grids, Tumu is enhancing the accuracy of traffic flow predictions, reducing congestion and improving overall system efficiency. His innovative algorithms also have the potential to significantly reduce emissions and boost the efficiency of renewable energy sources like wind farms.
