Special EMBS Presentation: IoT Product Development

Don Pancoe is CTO of Kapsul and is an industrial designer and electrical engineer by training who specializes in the design of interactive hardware and software systems.  Prior to joining Kapsul, he was a partner in Likuma Laboratories, one of the country’s fastest growing product design shops, where he worked on products for companies like Biomeme, Igloo Home and Smart Vision Labs. Don has over 20 years of experience designing communications networks and industrial control and information systems.  Don is a professional engineer with a master’s degree in industrial design and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Penn State. Don understands that goods and services are becoming more interactive, interconnected and integrated all the time; but users still want - perhaps more than ever - a seamless experience. Don says that he understands that “users want things to 'just work' and you therefore need to envision how things should work from the user's point of view while fully understanding the hidden technical complexities of how it actually happens. I understand how each link in the chain affects the final outcome, and I can adjust the design parameters of each so that the desired outcome is achieved as efficiently as possible”.
