Steve was born on a small potato farm in Maine where his dad showed him how to drive a small two and half ton truck at the age of seven and a half.  Steve left high school in his junior year to join the Air Force where he worked as a radio operator directing traffic between the aircraft and Air Traffic Control.  After his tour in the Air Force, he found his way into trucking.  Early on he hauled US mail, refrigerated LTL and finally tank trucks.  He became an owner operator in 1969 and founded Carbon Express in 1983. He is a past Chairman of NTTC and a current board member of ATA.
