Cassandra Ogren is the Deputy Director of Research for the Teamsters Strategic Research & Campaigns Department. The research arm of the department focuses on strategic corporate and industry research to inform organizing and bargaining and to forecast impacts of key industry developments on employees and union members. Recent research has focused especially on the growth of the third-party logistics sector, supply chains, last mile delivery, and e-commerce. Cassandra has also worked closely with the Teamsters’ legislative and communications departments to research and provide guidance on the union’s perspectives and statements on new technology and automation. She and the research staff have prepared a number of reports on the key companies involved in advancing self-driving technology and reviewed existing collective bargaining agreements for language covering new technology and automation to identify best practices. Cassandra is also a member of the advisory board of the Labor Research & Action Network, a network of academics and workers’ rights practitioners at unions, worker centers, and NGO’s, and has assisted in organizing both the LRAN annual conference and various other focused workshops and trainings. She has been with the Teamsters for 12 years and prior to that worked with Oregon’s farmworker union, PCUN. She has a MA from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service with a focus on migration and humanitarian emergencies.
