TRUCK2018 - Day 1 - 1300 - Allan I. Pack
Dr. Allan I. Pack is involved in research and education in the new medical discipline of sleep medicine. He led development of the first independent clinical Sleep Medicine Division in the United States and the first medical school-wide center for research in sleep and circadian rhythms. He has received numerous awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Sleep Foundation and the Farrell Prize from Harvard Medical School. One major area of focus of his endeavors has been drowsy driving. He worked with colleagues at AmeriGas (Jean Tyrell) to develop a new program to diagnose and treat the common disorder—obstructive sleep apnea—in a cost-effective way. New approaches to chronic care management that ensure that drivers with this condition are compliant with their therapy have been developed.
